Monte Carasso is a small town next to Bellinzona, the capital city of southern Switzerland’s Ticino canton, which is known for its 3 medieval castles, including the hilltop Castelgrande, Montebello and Sasso Corbaro.
Just a short walk away from the apartment a modern, fast and environmentally friendly cable car connects Monte Carasso with Mornera (1400 m) in just 12 minutes. Mornera lies on a gentle natural terrace facing the south, surrounded by larch and fir trees, where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Bellinzona region, on the Magadino plain and the main peaks of the alps.
Just 20 minutes drive from the flat we recommend visiting the Carasc bridge, the only rope bridge in Ticino with its 360 steps suspended in space.
Further away, on the shore of Lake Maggiore, Locarno is a tourists' favourite, with its enchanting square where every year the International Film Festival and the “Moon and Stars” music festival take place.
Finally, the Lido di Locarno (30 minutes drive) is a wonderful place for swimming in lake Maggiore, sunbathing in the huge grounds, relaxing in the pool or having lunch in the shade while enjoying a glass of local wine.
From Giubiasco train station you can catch the bus (line 2 direction Bellinzona Stazione) and get off after 6 minutes at Monte Carasso Urènn/Funivia. From there you can walk for 2 minutes to the property.
