Strietfeld is a small, tranquil district of the municipality of Walow in the centre of the Mecklenburg Lake District and is located in an area rich in forests and meadows directly on the Großer Kressinsee. In addition to its excellent water quality, it offers a large, well-maintained bathing area with a jetty and ideal conditions for anglers. There is a farm in the village where fresh eggs are regularly available. The Kölpinsee and Fleesensee lakes as well as the Müritzsee and Plauer See lakes are also close to Strietfeld. In Röbel there is the Müritztherme, a large adventure pool, and in Waren (Müritz) the Müritzeum, the nature experience centre with a large freshwater aquarium, is a popular excursion destination.
