Travel Purpose: business

Positive: Oberhofen is fantastically located, especially for a hiking holiday – it is a quiet, charming village with excellent boat and bus connections to Thun and Interlaken. There are several very nice restaurants and bars, some right on the lake with magnificent views. There is also a small shop, a bakery and a chemist, and the larger supermarkets (Denner, Coop and Migros) are all in one place, just 5 minutes away by bus. The accommodation is located in a quiet street, 1 minute's walk from the local shop (which seems to be open every day) and the bakery, and 3 minutes from the nearest restaurant and bus stop. Having a washing machine and dryer is always extremely useful to us, so we can travel light :-)

Negative: The apartment was neither particularly comfortable nor practical for us otherwise, and we were somewhat disappointed, especially considering the price and compared to other accommodations in Switzerland we had rented through this platform in the same category. The layout is a bit strange to start with – the bedroom is on the ground floor/basement next to the utility room and the bathroom is on the first floor next to the entrance, so you have to climb the stairs at night to get to the toilet. The bed was too small for both of us (my husband is 6ft4), the mattress was very hard and the pillows were unusually thick. I woke up every morning with neck and back pain. The bathroom is quite old-fashioned and reminiscent of a hospital en suite; the appliances also looked quite old. There is no microwave, so unfortunately we couldn't reheat any leftovers. The couch in the living room is very comfortable, but not wide enough for two people to stretch out on after a long day of hiking. There is a table football table, but we would have preferred a nice armchair in that spot :-)
