Hernals is one of Vienna’s lushest districts, with almost 60% of the area covered in greenery. The neighborhood has a diverse collection of shops and restaurants. Popular attractions in Hernals include the palace of Schloss Neuwaldegg and its adjoining park and Mount Calvary Church (Kalvarienbergkirche), an eighteenth century church that was rebuilt after World War II.
Hernals is also known for Jörgerbad, a gorgeous Art Deco structure that houses the city's oldest swimming pool, and its commemorative statues of Johann and Josef Schrammel, two brothers who grew up in the neighborhood and became famous composers of folk songs.
