Donaustadt is situated in the northeastern part of Vienna and is the largest of the districts by area, occupying about one-quarter of the Vienna city area. It borders the 2nd, the 11th and the 21st district, but also has a border to Lower Austria. The area has a lot of green spaces and is also has a large part of the Danube and the Danube Island, an island which is popular for cycling or just going for a nice walk. Not far away is the Danube Tower (Donauturm), which is the perfect place for a good cup of coffee and a piece of the infamous Sachertorte, with a great view over Vienna, in the coffee on top of the tower. Some other sights would be the UNO City, the Donauzentrum for a shopping day or the flower gardens in Hirschstetten.
In the near area you will find plenty of small Kebab or Asian restaurants. For a good Asian Buffet, but also some great menues, you can make your way to Wok House, which is just a few minutes away. If you prefer an authentic Greek meal, the Akropolis is not far away either. Just a few stops with public transportation away, is the Vogelbauer Bier- u Weingarten. There you can get some traditional Austrian food while sitting in a very green and inviting backyard, if it is warm enough. But, of course you can also visit them during the winter, or at a colder day in the city.
The apartment is located in Hausgrundweg, a small and calm side street of Stadlauer Straße, right around the corner from a big supermarket (Merkur). The tram line 25 stops right around the corner, which brings you directly to the nearest Subway station. This connection makes it very easy to get to the center of the city.
