Directly from the town you can reach the Astental, which is perfect for various leisure activities such as hiking, mountaineering or mountain biking. In winter, Mörtschach is an ideal starting point for ski days in Heiligenblut, on the Mölltal Glacier or in the Lienz Dolomites.
The small national park community of Mörtschach in the Astental is a very idyllic mountain village and, due to its central location between the three-thousanders of the Schober Group and the proximity to the Großglockner, is an ideal starting point for demanding climbing tours and various hiking and cycling routes.
