In our new, modern furnished apartment (non-smoking) for 4 persons with kitchen, living room with satellite TV and 2 double bedrooms, each with shower / WC, large terrace, you can relax and enjoy your holiday. When occupying the apartment with 2 people only one bedroom can be used. Detzem is a small wine village, directly on the Mosel. On the Moselradweg you can cycle for miles or go for a walk. From the five-lake view tower you have a wonderful view down to the Mosel valley. Detzem is halfway between Trier (22 km) and Bernkastel-Kues (25 km). The gem city Idar-Oberstein is also not far away. In just an hour's drive you are in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (50 km) or in the neighboring countries of Belgium and France. The idyllic wine village owes its name to a former Roman road, which at that time led along the Moselle from Trier to Mainz. Summary: The property is the top floor of a 3 storey building that includes a terrace on the middle storey. We were there in a heat wave, which made the place very warm, but the terrace added good options for certain times of day. We never understood why, but communications with the owner by email and then text never worked, so it was really important that her parents live next door, and are very friendly and helpful, which gave us some communications. The lack of communication also gave us some uncomfortable moments with checking in, made worse by Google Maps directing us to the wrong street in the village. (Haus Klara is at the top of the village, not off In Der Burg where Google Maps thinks number 6 Neugartenstrasse is). However, we went to the winery business address, and luckily found the owner there who was very helpful and sorted everything out. 'Luckily' as our communications about checking in 2-3 hours later than we were allowed to hadn't got through. Covid has hurt the village badly, closing all but one of the restaurants there, and even that is closed on Wednesday and Thursday, so we made a lot of use of the bus to go to the next village of Leiwen. There was a good service- hourly up to 11pm, and there was a very cheap (9 euro) ticket to give us free travel for the month- don't rely on this ticket continuing though. Overall we had a very enjoyable holiday, hampered a bit by the heatwave.
